Years ago, you hadn’t quite dismissed the notion of animating the strip. The trade-off, of course, is that predictability is boring. You can’t really blame people for preferring more of what they already know and like. Well, coming at a new work requires a certain amount of patience and energy, and there’s always the risk of disappointment. You had an idea, executed it, then moved on. There is a tendency to rehash and regurgitate properties with sequels and remakes. Last year we were lucky enough to land an interview with the man behind Calvin and Hobbes.įor the December 2013 issue of mental_floss magazine, Jake Rossen managed to do something we thought was impossible-he snagged an interview with the legendary Bill Watterson! Since we’re guessing there are a few Calvin and Hobbes enthusiasts in the audience, we thought we’d provide a glimpse of the e-mail exchange.
